Blood Drive

Two times a year FBLA arranges for the American Red Cross association to visit Bothell High and any student over the age of 17 with permission can donate blood. All blood transfusions are done under careful supervision by Red Cross experts. FBLA also arranges for water bottles to be handed out to donors and handles all the planning and execution of the event while working along with the American Red Cross.

The next blood donation drive will occur on June 4th

FBLA supports march of dimes

March of Dimes

March of Dimes is a huge FBLA tradition all over the nation. From collection donations to fund research to educating their peers and community about the mission of the March of Dimes, Bothell FBLA continues to be an avid supporter of the March of Dimes foundation. We hold an annual March for Babies fundraiser during the month of March. Everyone from the community is invited to join. The march is a 1.43 mile loop on the Burke-Gillman trail, along with a raffle for fun prizes. Donation envelopes will be supplied.

This year March of Dimes will be occurring on March 29, 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. at Bothell Landing.

Go Green

The Go Green project is relatively new to FBLA. The plan involves organizing community clean-ups, educating the school on energy conservation, donating energy-efficient light bulbs to community businesses and other green projects.

FBLA is partnering with The Nature Conservancy and other environmental civic groups to clean up parks and teach elementary children about the benefits of energy conservation. So far, with the help of these groups, FBLA members have cleared roads of litter, taught lessons about the environment to elementary students and planted trees by the river in Bothell Landing.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Much like we do for the March of Dimes, Bothell FBLA raises money to donate to the Breast Cancer Awareness fund. Fundraisers vary from raising money for the Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure walk to other independent projects such as Data Match.

The Susan G. Komen walk occurs in early September. FBLA raised over 700 dollars last time!

Current FBLA Projects

Many of FBLA's projects revolve around either national or local fundraisers. FBLA works to spread local attention to these fundraisers and the groups that support them. So far, Bothell FBLA has succeeded in making the greater part of their hometown aware of several different fundraisers.

FBLA projects are lead by the member of the group with some help from the advisor. Members contribute to the planning, preparing and execution of the event, often while working with the help from local civic groups. Projects are meant to give students experience working in a business environment.

Members often describe their fundraising projects as exciting experiences and usually end up raising a vast amount of funds for the various causes.
